The Alliance Legal Consulting Group has persuaded the Kuntsevsky District Court of Moscow to dismiss a claim brought by Ruslan Kagarmanov for copyright infringement against firm client Alexander Revva regarding the song “Chika.”
Artem Grishin, a lawyer at the Moscow Alliance Legal Law Bureau, who defended Alexander Revva’s interests in court, commented that the court's verdict demonstrates that, "in addition to the coincidence of song titles, first of all, the borrowing of both musical and linguistic (semantic) components must be proved, which was not done by the plaintiff in the present case."
According to the firm, "the court decision ... once again confirms that the song 'Chika,' performed by Alexander Revva, is an original musical product created by composer Denis Kovalsky, loved by the listener, and deservedly leading on all Russian charts.”
