Wolf Theiss has informed CEE Legal Matters that this past spring it worked alongside Jones Day and Kirkland & Ellis in advising Blackstone Tactical Opportunities on its EUR 175 million acquisition of a minority stake in Romania's Superbet Group. Romania's Bulboaca & Asociatii worked alongside global counsel Herzog, Fox & Neeman in advising the sellers.
Blackstone Tactical Opportunities is part of America's Blackstone investment fund.
The Superbet Group is a sports betting and gaming company that was co-founded in 2008 by Romanian entrepreneur Sacha Dragic, who is also the company's CEO. It operates a network of over 1,200 betting agencies across Romanian and launched a digital platform in 2016, and a mobile application in 2018. In 2017, Superbet officially launched operations in Poland, and it has offices in Austria, Serbia, Croatia, Malta, and the United Kingdom.
