Clifford Chance Badea has advised Germany's REWE/DerTour group on its acquisition of the travel agency arm of Eurolines Romania.
The agreement was signed by the two groups in Romania, approved by the Competition Council, and is expected to be completed in Fall 2019. The transaction value was not disclosed.
The DerTour Group is a tourism operator in Europe. Based in Germany, the group owns 30 companies in 15 countries. It has been present in Romania, through DerTour Romania, since 2004.
DER Touristik is part of the REWE Group, a trade and tourism corporation established in 1927 and based in Cologne, Germany. The group has over 15,000 stores and 2,400 travel agencies across the continent. The REWE Group's retail goods operations encompass REWE, Billa, Merkur, Bipa, Penny, Toom Baumarkt, and B1. Its tourism division, DER Touristik, includes sales lines ITS, Jahn Reisen, Travelix, Dertour, Meier’s Weltreisen, Kuoni, Der Reiseburos, Derpart, and Der Business Travel.
The Eurolines Group, which cover tourism and related services, has been present on the Romanian market since 1995. Eurolines Romania has 80 agencies, under such brands as TUI TravelCenter, Travel Brands, and Eurolines. The company was founded by Dragos Anastasiu in 1995.

Clifford Chance did not inform CEE Legal Matters which firm had advised the sellers.
