Bondoc & Asociatii has advised Sarica Niculitel on the acquisition of the Zoresti winery from Domaine Vinarte, which was supported by Wolf Theiss.
The transaction value was approximately EUR 1.5 million.
Sarica Niculitel is a Romanian wine producer headquartered in Bucharest. It was established in 1958, producing wines from the Dobrogea region, which is located at the Danube delta and the Black Sea in the southeast of Romania.
Zoresti winery is located in Dealu Mare, a well-established Romanian wine region in the Southern Subcarpathian hills.
According to Bondoc & Asociatii, the transaction included the Prince Matei wine brand, which is "one of the most renowned Romanian wines," as well as 90 hectares of premium vineyard and all related production assets, trademarks, and personnel.
Bondoc & Asociatii Partner Cosmin Stavaru, who coordinated the firm’s team on the deal, commented: “This transaction gives a positive sign that the wine industry in Romania is not only growing, but also maturing. It is the second major transaction in the wine industry after the takeover of Halewood winery by Alexandrion group last year and, while it is too soon to talk about a consolidation trend, we would expect to see other similar transactions in the near future.”
Wolf Theiss' team consisted of Partner Bryan Jardine, Counsel Flaviu Nanu, and Associate Alexandru Roman.
