Cobalt has promoted former Specialist Counsl Edgars Pastars to Partner in its office in Latvia. Pastars will also Head the firm's Financial Regulatory and Compliance Practice.
Pastars has been with Cobalt since early 2015. Earlier, he spent nine and a half years as a Legal Advisor to the Parliament of Latvia, a tenure during which he also spent two years as a Senior Legal Adviser to the Chancery of the President of Latvia.
Pastars' work includes advising VPH on the development of a shopping complex in Riga in 2022 (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on June 10, 2022), advising Swedbank, SEB, Luminor, and Citadele on a cooperation agreement in 2021 (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on September 14, 2021), and representing a Latvian municipality in a constitutional challenge to Pupils-per-Class Regulation in 2017 (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on July 12, 2017).
