Schoenherr, working with sole practitioner Mihaela Aliman, has advised Renovatio on the sale of renewable energy production assets with a capacity of approximately 18 megawatts to OMV Petrom.

Renovatio is an infrastructure asset owner. OMV Petrom is the largest integrated energy company in Southeast Europe, according to its website.

According to Schoenherr, "the projects include two operational wind farms located in Eastern Romania, with a total installed capacity of 16 megawatts, and a micro-hydro power plant with a capacity of 2 megawatts in Northwestern Romania. The estimated cumulative annual production of these assets is approximately 45 gigawatt-hours."

Moreover, the firm reports that the transaction closed in October 2024, "coinciding with the completion of the previously announced sale by Renovatio of 50% of the shares of Electrocentrale Borzesti, a company owning renewable energy projects with a capacity of approximately 1,000 megawatts (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on January 11, 2024). The wind projects will be developed, built, and operated by OMV Petrom in partnership with Renovatio. The photovoltaic project is currently in production tests."

The Schoenherr team included Partner Monica Cojocaru and Managing Attorney at Law Simona Lehniuc.

Schoenherr could not provide additional information on the matter.
